- SC-BID
- (Version 2)
-
- This program allows a contractor to maintain an indexed master file
- of bid items. From this file, job bids are created.
-
- One of the main purposes of this program was to keep it simple.
- With a little experimenting, a contractor or his estimator should be able
- to use this program within a very short time. A PC or compatible with two
- disk drives is necessary to run this program properly.
-
- Two disks need to be prepared in running the program. One should be
- labeled MASTER and placed in Drive A; this can be the same disk that the
- program is on. Later, if more space is needed the program can be placed
- on a separate disk. The second disk should be labeled JOBS and placed
- in Drive B to store bid files.
-
- As with all software of this kind, backup copies of your disk files
- should be made periodically to avoid loss of data.
-
- Parts of this software were created using the ZBasic Compiler.
- Portions of this Code are (c) Copyrighted, 1985 by Zedcor Incorporated.
-
- I have no affiliations with anyone at Zedcor, but I would like to
- express my appreciation to them for the development of this superb
- compiler. If you program, you should check it out.

- The first time you enter the program you will have to enter the
- following:
- The Company Name and the following percentages
-
- Payroll Tax and Insurance .......... (based on payroll)
- Sales Tax on Materials
- Overhead ........................... (based on bid)
- Overhead used on Sub-Contractors
- Bond Premium ....................... (based on bid)
- Printer over 80 columns? ........... (Y/N)
-
- You will be prompted for this information after the initial screen
- of the program. This will build a company file with this information
- placed on your MASTER disk. This information can be changed anytime with
- option 4 of the Main Menu. An example of an entry for the percentages
- would be 0.125 which represents 12.5 percent. If you have a printer that
- prints over 80 columns, enter "Y" to the prompt otherwise enter "N".

-
- - MAIN MENU Options 1-2-3 -
-
- These are the options to start building your master file. You will
- be asked for master file numbers along with other pertinent information
- which should be self-explanatory. Master file numbers need not be
- numeric but should be used for clarity as the file builds. Four positions
- are allowed.
-
- A recommendation is to allow enough room between numbers for repeating
- the same bid items, but with different costs and bid amounts. This allows
- for flexibility with jobs of different levels of difficulty for construction
- of these items. Room should also be left for future insertions. The listing
- from Option 3 will be in the order of the master file numbers.
-
- Careful building of this file will make the future bidding of jobs
- much easier. Another recommendation is to have a default record for bid
- items you do not wish to put in your master file. You can always change
- the data in these items later. Use of the cursor keys is allowed for
- corrections.
-
- Option 2 allows for changing and updating your master file.
-
- Option 3 will print a listing of your master file for your use in
- preparing bids.
-
-
- - MAIN MENU Option 4 -
-
- Company file as explained above. This option allows changes to the
- company name, overhead percentages and printer option.
-
-
- - MAIN MENU Option 5 -
-
- This is the option to use for entering new bid jobs. The New Job
- Menu will come up with this option.
-
- Option 1 is for entering the items, along with the Job number and
- name of the Job. The job number allows for 3 positions. Caution should
- be used in not using a job number already in use, as this will delete the
- previous job with the same number.
-
- Option 2 will print an edit register of the items entered above.
- You will need a listing showing the item numbers needed for changes in
- options 3 thru 5.
-
- Options 3 thru 5 - Changes to Job Items.
-
- Option 6 is the final step. This will build the Job Bid file for
- the job being bid on. After this step, you must use options 6-7 of the
- Main Menu for further changes.
-
-
- - MAIN MENU Options 6-7 -
-
- These options are for modifying your bid. You can change cost
- factors, descriptions etc. You can also add new records to your bids.
- This is sometimes essential for late addendums to a bid.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- - MAIN MENU Option 8 -
-
- This prints a worksheet of your bid. This shows all costs used in
- the bid with a summary at the end.
-
-
- - MAIN MENU Option 9 -
-
- This will print a proposal of your bid, suitable for submitting some
- of your bids.
-

- NOTE: NO WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED IN THE USE OF THIS
- PROGRAM. USER ASSUMES ALL RESPONISBILITY OF ANY LOSSES INCURRED IN THE
- USE OF THE PROGRAM.
-
- If you like this program, a contribution of 20.00 would be appreciated.
- As an owner of record, you will be notified of future contractors' programs
- as they become available. A monthly billing estimate program is currently
- available at this time. The program uses files from this program to build
- estimate files or can be used alone. It allows for entering quantities as
- a job progresses and prints estimates as needed.
